He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Friend and Helen Friend (Cox); his brothers, Roger Friend and Robert Friend; and his siblings-in-law, James Shaw and Judith Friend.
He is survived by: his sisters, Phyllis Shaw of North Carolina and Sheila Bartlett of Mississippi; and his sister-in-law Mary. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
