He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Mathews and Esther Mathews (Fitzmaurice); his stepmother Marian Mathews; and his brother Thomas Mathews. He is survived by: his former spouse Cathy-Rae Goodwin; his wife Cathy Mathews (Goodwin); his daughters, Stacy Kesselring of Van Etten, NY and Cheryl Mathews of Elmira, NY; his brothers, Roy Mathews (Bonnie) and Terry Mathews of Van Etten; his stepsiblings, Sue Mathews of Cayuta and Larry Stull of Van Etten; and his grandchildren, Joel and Gabriella Kesselring. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
