He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlin Thomas and Margaret Zehr Thomas; and his siblings, James, William, Ronald, Jane and Sue.
He is survived by: his wife Linda M. Fahsel of Carthage; and his children, Laurie Gates Hickey (Randy) of Natural Bridge, Anthony Gates (Christine) of St. Petersburg, FL and Daniel Thomas of Sebring. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
