She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Clifford and Mary Gates (Genito); her son Darren Gates; and her stepfather James Paul Murtha. She is survived by: her grandson Ethan; her siblings, Clifford Gates (Jane), Kenneth Gates (Joan) and Virginia "Ginger" Favret (Mark); her daughter-in-law Shella Gates; her granddaughters, Jennifer Dupre (Scott) and Ann Gates; her great grandchild Ethan Dupre; and her half-sisters, Faye Gates Lamar (Jeffery), Gaye Gates Shatraw (Richard), Janet Gates Hickey (Dana) and Joanne Gates Grace (Roger).
