He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry M. Schermerhorn and Hattie M. Schermerhorn Sr. (Potter); and his siblings, Bonnie Phillips, April Davis, Sharon Lalone Sr. and Larry Schermerhorn.
He is survived by: his siblings, Ada Segovis of Carthage, Caroline Johnson, Carol Nutting of Carthage, Cindy LaComb of Carthage, Hattie Schermerhorn Jr. of Carthage and Harry Schermerhorn Jr. of Carthage. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
