He was predeceased by: his grandson Justin Gilbert. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Anne McIntyre of Pierrepont; his children, Richard Paul Gilbert, Jr. (Gabby Brown) of Bernhards Bay, NY, Susan Kahn (Jeff) of Howell, MI, Janice Bansek (Dave) of Anaheim, CA and Patti Leach (Brian) of Pennellville, NY; and his brother John W. Gilbert (Charlene) of Booneville, NY. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
