He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Ann Crimmel; his daughter Hillary Lammens; his grandchildren, Greer and Jake; his daughter Allison Lappin; his grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and Jordan; and his parents, George Elmer and Edyth Elmer.
After being graduated from law school, he received a Ford Foundation grant trough the Syracuse University Africa-Asia Program and traveled to Dacca, East Pakistan, to work with the law firm of Orr, Dignam & Co..
