He was predeceased by: his parents, Conrad C. and Louise Knopf Hilsdorf; his former wife Irene (Rossman); and his siblings, George Hilsdorf, Charles Hilsdorf, Herman Hilsdorf, Mable Shuster, Celia Lons, Ethel Diehl and Clara Clark.

He is survived by: his wife Eloise Hilsdorf (Mullen) of Canisteo; his children, Sandra Clifford (Douglas) of Boston, Corinne Mistretta (Edward) of Charleston, S. C. and Carl Hilsdorf (Eileen) of Bishopville; and his sister Mary Preston. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
