He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Shirley and Dorothy Shirley (Saddlemire); his wife Beverly Shirley; his son James "Jimmer" Shirley; and his brothers, Clayton "Buck" Shirley and Sylvester "Vet" Shirley.
He is survived by: his son Steven; his daughter-in-law Sue Shirley; his grandsons, Brandon "Buzz" Shirley and Nicholas Ryan Shirley; and his sisters, Alice (Don Morey) and Althea Hallett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
