He is survived by: his wife Liz Backus (Wood); his children, Adam Backus (Daniele) and Toni Lynn Backus; his daughter-in-law Buffy Mathews; his grandchildren, Alexander Backus, Lidia, Oliver, Emma Cox, Miranda, MaryAnne Mathews and Paul Mathews, Jr.; his siblings, Sharon Backus, Sheila Mundo (Al), Lynn Backus (Jenny), Billy Backus and Tommy Backus (Barbara); his sisters-in-law, Norine Fields, Melinda Parmeter and Jodi Egelston; and the mother of his children Mary Adler. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc. (201 James St, Canastota, NY 13032). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the St. Agatha's Cemetery.
