He was predeceased by: his mother Edith Grems (Jamison); and his brothers, Thomas Grems and Dale Brown. He is survived by: his father Harry Grems; his wife Helen D. Virgil; his children, Dennis C., Jr. (Jennifer Grems), Kevin Grems, Jeff Grems and Kelly Benack; his children-in-law, Dawn and Pat Smith; his children, Kenneth, Hayde Roth, Michael Roth, Patricia and Kurt Gassett; and also, Gordon Grems and Ben Brown. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and his in-laws.
