He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Victoria DeBadts (Ron), Richard "Rick" Groot (Martha), Randy Groot (Karen) and Steve Groot (Theresa VanGee); his grandchildren, Melissa, Erica, Matt, Carrie, Daniel, A. J. and Heather; his sister Gladys Wallace; his former wife Shirley Stone; his brother Charles Groot; and his parents, Winfield Groot and Margaret Groot (Fisher). He was also cherished by seven great-grandchildren.
