He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Werges and Christiana Werges (Anna); and his siblings, Lawrence Werges (Catherine) and Kathryn Beck (Ted). He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his children, Lawrence "Larry" Werges (Jennifer) and Ann Wall (Michael); and his grandchildren, Thomas Wall (Trécy), Christopher Wall, Stephen Werges and Lillian Werges.
Memorials may be given to the Lamoni Bike Trail c/o Lamoni City Hall.
