It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bert J. Drake of Canandaigua, New York, born in Buffalo, New York, who passed away on January 17, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert A. Drake and Virginia Drake (Austin). He is survived by: his children, Bert Drake (Ellen Bartle) of Bloomfield, Deborah Cass (David) of Friendship and Kimberly Peters (Daniel) of Ponder, TX; his grandchildren, Rebecca, William, Jadzia, Lucas, Damien, Dylan and Anika; and his brothers, Lee Drake (Barbara) of Bloomfield and Douglas Drake (Joyce) of Pittsford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

“Bert was the first restaurant owner to give me a chance in the business… I was 16 and a high school dropout. This was at the Nunda Soda Bar, he saw something in me as I was very shy and insecure. I am now the lead cook in a hotel and still use a lot of what Bert taught me. I hadn’t seen him in years, he was on the road to recovery from his stroke but my deepest sympathies go out to his family God bless”
