He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Johnson and Inez Johnson (Jones); his former wife Margery Gourley; his wife Margaret Rosenkrans-Rapp of Canandaigua; and his brother David.
He is survived by: his extended family, Steven (Jeanne) of Rochester, Richard (Karen) of DuBois, PA and Glenn (Melissa) of Webster; his siblings, Ben of Richland, WA and Marion Karl of Cooperstown; his cousin Rusty Kotula of Jacksonville, AL; and also, Amy Bekkerman (Anton), Russ, Robyn, Sarah (Mike), Billy (Jen), Chris (Tamara), Dan (Stas), Chellie (Jackson) and Hannah Maves (Cam). He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
