He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton W. "Rawhide" Rouse and Josephine Ott Rouse; and his wife Lori Jeanne Oeser. He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Logan, Darcy Rouse, James E. Rouse Jr. (Ashley), Adam (Jamie Field) and Jaime Field; and his grandsons, Wyatt, Jackson and Colton.
