She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore A. Brennan Sr. and Alice M. Whitmore; and her sister Doris Horton. She is survived by: her daughter Roseanne Rivas; her husband Edwin Shay of Waverly, PA.; and her brother Rev. Theodore "Ted" Brennan Jr. (Eleanor) of Campbell.

Dorotha was inducted into the Society of Poets and was a distinguished member dedicated to peace, education, accomplishment, charity and equality.
