She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Carpenter and Constance Carpenter (Watson); and her siblings, John, Wynfield, Stanley Carpenter, Eugenie Eakins, Geraldine Pierlott and Constance Turner.
She is survived by: her spouse John T. "Jack" Van; her children, Patrice Van Schoick of Camden, Jennifer Reed (David) of East Syracuse and John David "Dutch" Van; her siblings-in-law, Susanne Norman of North Carolina and Donald Van Schoick (Sue) of Camden; her grandchildren, Eric Van Schoick (Markie, Michael Stith) and Benjamin Stith; and her great grandchildren, Dmitri and Mackenzie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contribution in Edith's memory may be made to the Camden Public Library.
