With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John J. Demarest Jr. of Cambridge, New York, born in Troy, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 12, 2024 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy John leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Demarest, and John Demarest, Sr.; and his son John J. Demarest, III. He is survived by: his children, Jessica Caines (Jim) of Lebanon, CT and Mike Demarest of Baltimore, MD; his daughter-in-law Cynthia Demarest of Oswego, NY.; his wife Alice Rothmann Demarest; and his grandchildren, Justus Demarest, Connor Caines and Evan Caines.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 19th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ackley, Ross & Gariepy Funeral Home (73 W Main St, Cambridge, NY 12816).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John's name to the Hedge's Lake Playground Association at the following address: care of Nancy McMorris 131a East Main St, Cambridge, NY 12816.
