She was predeceased by: her parents, John E. Shelton and Martha Alma Shelton; her husband Donald E. Carpenter, Sr.; and her siblings, Louise Cramatie, Catherine Stewart, Marvin Shelton and Horace Shelton.
She is survived by: her children, Susanne Carpenter, Madeline Burke (Van) and Donald Carpenter, Jr. (Lynn); her sisters, Arlene Williams and Betty McClenney; her grandchildren, Donelle Essler (Scott), Jasmine Hart (Zachary) and Tyler Carpenter; her great grandchildren, Alanna Essler and Michael Essler; and her godchildren, Kelley McClenney and Ivan D. Hicks (Christia). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
