He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy R. Loveland; his daughter Betty L. Cooper; and his siblings, Vaenetta (F. Irving Ryor), Rhea (Russell Ryor) and Harold Cooper.

He is survived by: his daughter Susanna (Kenneth Gardner); his son-in-law Leonard Hamilton, Jr.; his grandchildren, Scott E. Ring, Jason R. C. (Jennifer Ring) and Holly S. Ring O'Brien; his great grandchildren, Patrick O'Brien, Peter O'Brien and Erin O'Brien; and his great great grandchild Cooper T. Olver.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Hospice of Jefferson County at 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY.

“So sorry to hear this, but Uncle Rene had a very full life. I always looked forward to coming up in the summers to visit and do some target shooting with him and Uncle Ralph. When I was younger I enjoyed watching him working in the garage and it made me want to be a mechanic when I got older, but my mother and father discouraged that saying "There's no money in that profession." He will be missed and I'll never forget all the great times we had. Condolences to all the family. Mike Aho”
