He was predeceased by: his wife Sandra; his parents, Russell and Elenora; his stepfather Clarence Herrmann; his brother Earl Ely; and his nephew Jeffrey Ely.
He is survived by: his nephew Greg (Sue); his niece Julie; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Michael, Donald, Bryanna and James Ely.
