He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Szlis and Paul Szlis; his siblings, Anthony Szlis (Gail), Thomas Szlis (Kathy) and Paul Szlis, Sr. (late Nadine); and his siblings-in-law, Joseph Wisniewski Jr. (Kathy), Norbert Wisniewski, Jerome Wisniewski (Maureen) and Kathleen Gnozzo (Joseph).

He is survived by: his wife Marsha Szlis; his children, Michael (Bobbi Pickering Koepnick) and Tracy Szlis (Kevin Domblewski); his grandchildren, Nicholas and Brianna; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Wisniewski (late Joanne) and Susan Wisniewski. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 7th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Family & Friends Pietszak Funeral Home (2400 William St, Cheektowaga, NY 14206).
