It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jean M. Collender of Buchanan, New York, born in Peekskill, New York, who passed away on March 26, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her brothers, Robert Mitchell, Charles Mitchell, Alvin Mitchell and Smith Mitchell; and her parents, Robert Mitchell and Jesse Spock.
She is survived by: her children, Sharon Hall (Tom Hall), Richard P. Collender III (Sarah Ashkinaze) and Mary Jean Collender Merando (late Robert Merando); her grandchildren, Kristen Hall Delaney, Sophie Ashkinaze-Collender, Olivia Ashkinaze-Collender, Nicholas Merando, Jonathan Merando and Jacob Ashkinaze-Collender; and her great grandchild Liam Delaney. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.
Her love for helping others never faded; it was only due to the COVID-19 pandemic that she ceased work at Furnace Woods.
The family encourages donations to be made in Jean's honor to the American Heart Association, the American Stroke Association, or a charitable organization of your choosing. You may also make a one-time "memorial contribution" to Al-Anon Family Groups.
