With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Honorary Francis J. Mitchell of Brownville, New York, who passed away on January 2, 2023 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Mitchell (Shannon) and Leo Mitchell; his wife Betty; and his siblings, Robert, Maurice Mitchell, Louise Gardner, Gertrude Siver and Mary Ellen Gardner.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kathleen E. Mitchell of Brownville, NY and Julie A. Rockwood of Canton, NY; his grandchildren, Timothy J. (Rachel Pond), Derek (Sara Pond), Heather (Jandrew) and Benjamin (Kara Rockwood); his great grandchildren, Malory Pond, Declan Pond, Teagan Pond, Ava Jandrew, Cole Jandrew, Charlotte Rockwood and Emma Rockwood; and his siblings-in-law, Erma Patchen of Gouverneur, NY and Thomas Ward. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Burial with military honors will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or to Sacred Heart Foundation.
