He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hovell and Ruth Hovell. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Hovell; his children, Shaun, Michael and Nicole Hovell; and his granddaughter Sadie.

Visitation was held on Sunday, October 6th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Marine Park Funeral Home, Inc. (3024 Quentin Rd, Brooklyn, NY 11234). A burial was held on Tuesday, October 8th 2024 at the Green-Wood Cemetery (500 25th St, Brooklyn, NY 11232).
