He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cooney and Catherine Cooney (Flanagan). He is survived by: his wife Janice B. Cooney (Carmody); his children, James S. Cooney (Erin), Michael J. Cooney (Erin) and Keri GaNun (Tim); his grandchildren, James, Timmy, Regan, Keira, Brendan, Matthew, Brigid and Mike; his great grandchild Eleanor; his brother Robert Cooney (Charlene); and his siblings-in-law, James Carmody, Richard Carmody (LeeAnn) and Christine Denver (Gerard). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Marine Park Funeral Home, Inc. (3024 Quentin Rd, Brooklyn, NY 11234). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Good Shepherd R. C. Church (1950 Batchelder St, Brooklyn, NY 11229). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Calverton National Cemetery (210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, NY 11933).
