We are sad to announce that on November 29, 2024, Irene J. Melina (Brooklyn, New York), born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Irene farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Irene is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her husband Umberto C. Melina; her parents, John Simon Ushinski and Sophie; and her brother Eugene J. Ushinski. She is survived by: her son Robert John Carlo Melina; and her daughter-in-law Isabella Vlacci-Melina. She is also survived by nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the McLaughlin & Sons Funeral Home (9620 3rd Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick's Church (9511 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11209).
