With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Chester J. Straub of Bronxville, New York, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 13, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his son Chester Jr. (Jen). He is survived by: his wife Patricia Morrissey Straub; his sons, Michael (Rachael), Christopher (Ann) and Robert (Dorothy); his grandchildren, Robert, Daphne, Christopher, Lindsey, Nicholas, Jack and Mira; and his sister Ann Straub.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (http://www.stjude.org.).

“When Chet passed, a piece of my Greenpoint soul died with him. I shopped at his parents' store, followed his political career, and, like many a neighborhood girl, felt my heart go pitter-patter upon seeing him. A fledgling columnist for a weekly, I interviewed him at the Democratic Club after his first election. I wrote, "he looked like a ray of sunshine in the proverbial smoke-filled room." Rest in peace, Chet. I'm sure your son helped you cross. Say "hello" to your mom and dad for me.”
