He was predeceased by: his parents, Josh Owens (J. T.) and Aislee Owens; and his sisters, Minnie Day and Emma Owens-Day. He is survived by: his wife Louise; his children, Walter Winston and Patrenia L. Owens; his grandchildren, Grenita Winston, Gary Winston and Cierra Thomas; his daughter-in-law Brenda Delancy-Young; and his siblings, Dorothy Collier and Johnnie Owens (Maggie). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
