She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Bishop and Mary Bishop (O'Leary); her husbands, William McEwen and Frederick Smith; and her children, Katherine Snyder and Thomas McEwen.
She is survived by: her children, Christine Penna and Philip Boyd; her daughter-in-law Jeanette Novak; her grandchildren, Megan Head (Will), Michael Snyder, Brittany Schmidt (Dennis Lusk), Bryan Schmidt (Felicia Verhagen), Rebecca Scharping, Robert Mullins, Brendon Mullins, Bryan Mullins (Aubrey Fortunato), Aaron Mullins, Andrew Penna (Jewel Williamee) and Kamryn Penna; her sister Karen Niebel (John); and her close friends, Linda McClelland, Diana Ridd and Wanda Kowalski. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
