It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John Andrew Maguire of Briarcliff Manor, New York, born in Newark, New Jersey, who passed away on January 19, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward John and Winifred Theresa Maguire (Sharkey); and his nephew Christopher. He is survived by: his wife Mary Augone; his brother Paul Maguire (Adele); his sister-in-law Ilean Petrizzo (Joseph); his niece Elena Whidden (Avery); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Thomas, Maggie and William Whidden; his nephews, Brian (Gabriella) and Michael Petrizzo; his niece Joanna Rose Delaney (John); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Nicolette, Gabriel Petrizzo, Richard and Gianna Delaney.

“I will miss my cousin John. He was a gentle soul, quick to laugh and never to speak unkindly. We were so happy to see the loving relationship he had with Mary, and we will be forever grateful to her for the love she brought into his life. The family will also miss the family historian, the keeper of the facts. He corrected the obituary I wrote for my mother. He told me she could not have moved into her retirement community in 1972 since Army played Navy that same year in Philly in 1973.”
