He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Cynthia "Cindy" L. Stone of Brewerton; his children, James "Jay" Sargeant and Megan M. Sargeant of North Syracuse; his grandson James William Radford IV; his parents, James Sargeant (Karen) and Beverly R. Hurst of Cicero, NY; and his siblings, Laurie J. Groover, Christine Sargeant-Vermillion (Alex) of Liverpool, NY, Christine M. Krell (Peter) of Bridgeport, Timothy Sargeant and Daniel Hurst of Memphis, NY. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
