He was predeceased by: his son Jay Gleason (Jane); his parents, Elizabeth Root and Wesley Root; and his siblings, John Gleason (Verna) and Kathryn Root (late Robert).
He is survived by: his wife Jane Gleason; his sons, John Gleason and Joel (Elizabeth); his grandchildren, Laura, Danielle, Taylor, Bridget, Mollie, Jay and Alexis; his great grandchildren, Charlie, Elias, Joseph, River, Cora and Ryan; and his sibling Billyann Rose. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in George's name to the Hospice Foundation of WNY.
