He was predeceased by: his father Malcolm W. Tanner; his stepmother Shirley Tanner; his grandson Kyle Z. Platt; and his brothers, Danny, Michael and Steven.
He is survived by: his mother Marlene Joanis Tanner; his wife Kim A. Kerber; his children, Anessa (Keith Platt), Hawkinsville, Benjamin (Darci) and Tanner of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, Alex Platt (Jade), Kaitlyn Carbaugh, Adam Tanner and Sarah Dorhn; his great grandchildren, Owen, Addalyne, Ryder and Zachary; his siblings, Scott, Deborah Tanner, Laurie Secor, Sharon, Joe Cullings, Brian, Stacey Tanner, Tracey Tanner and Jason Tanner; his stepsister Pam; and his sister-in-law Rhonda Kerber.
