He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J. Werdein and Eileen Werdein (Scharr). He is survived by: his wife Susan Werdein (VanDeMar); his daughter Sara Spaulding (Brittany); and his siblings, Joesph Werdein (Tracey Hillman), Anne Greenberg (Kim), Patricia Werdein, Mary Hill (Rob) and Karen Kelly (Michael).
