It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley J. Rider (Bliss, New York), born in Freedom, New York, who passed away on November 23, 2019, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Mummery and Dorothy Dewitt Mummery; her former husband Carl Holmes; her husband Oscar H. Rider; her children, Gary Holmes and Linda Sparks; her great grandchild Michaela Holmes; and her siblings, Donald, Norman "Timmy", Stanley, Ronald Mummery, Marie Rosier, Phyllis Stack, Nadeane Lalonde and Beverly "Stubby" Herrell.
She is survived by: her sons, Larry Holmes (Linda) of Warsaw, Dennis Holmes (Dale) of Castile and Douglas Holmes (Melody) of Bliss; her stepson Steven Rider (Linda) of Austin, TX; and her sister Sylvia DeGroff (Herbie) of Perry. She is also survived by Numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to the rescue squad at the Eagle Memorial Hose Company.
