He was predeceased by: his daughter Teri Gates; his brother David Gates; and his parents, Donald Gates and Lucille Gates. He is survived by: his wife Carol Gates; his son Steve (Susie Gates); his stepson Scott (Masako Russell); his granddaughter Jessica Gates; and his sisters, Dolores (Joe Marrongelli) and Bonnie Gates (Sam Whited). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
A celebration of life was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the R. Chase & Son Funeral Home (737 Chenango St, Port Dickinson, NY 13901).
