He was predeceased by: his wife Jacqueline Best; his mother Myra Horvath; his stepfather Rev. William Horvath; his grandparents, Earl and Mary Best; and his brother Howard Best.
He is survived by: his children, Katherine McHugh (Daniel), Jennine Best-Baker (Clayton) and George Best; his grandchildren, Brittney McHugh and Madison Baker; and his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Winfield and Myra Ilona Horvath.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Broome Humane Society or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
