He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Thornton and Rose Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Elaine, James, Jeanne, Mary, Tommy, Claire, Patrick and Matthew; his daughters-in-law, Susanna, Chrissy and Carolyn; his grandchildren, Krystle, Kathleen, Jean Marie, Nichole, Jamie, Natalie, Richard, Thomas, Shannon, Jasmine, Ava and Matthew; his great grandchildren, Logan, Clement, Nora and River; his siblings, Patricia and James; his pets, Sam, Shamrock, Susie, Lily, Lulu and Luis; and his siblings, Thomas, Donald and Eileen. He is also survived by his 12 nieces & nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Regis High School, the tuition-free and merit-based high school that Richard credited for launching much of his success in all aspects of his life.
