He was predeceased by: his close friend Naomi McCormick; and his sister Doris Drost. He is survived by: his brothers, Jack Pelepako (Jane) of Mahopac, NY and Bob Pelepako (Martha) of North Carolina; his daughter Karen Torres of White Plains, NY; his godson Gary Grund (Michelle) of Slate Hill, NY; and his grandchildren, Thomas Eckes and Janine Eckes.

In 2021, Mickey was deeply honored to be named the 2021 recipient of the Sullivan County Historical Society History Maker Award for his contributions to the entertainment world through originality and influence producing, performing music and having a significant impact on the arts, music and culture of Sullivan County. As such, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sullivan County Historical Society.

“I met Mickey in 1984 when he came to Vermont for a show with my band, the Cousin Brothers. Mickey and I became instant friends. We recorded in his studio and I later joined his band in White Lake for the summer of 1985. Mickey was an awesome entertainer. He had that magical voice. He really was a Little Giant of the Northeastern music scene. I will miss you, Brother. Rest in Peace.”
