He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Tiefel and Harrison Tiefel (Bud); his wife Linda A. Tiefel; his sister Mary Joan Tiefel-VanSlooten of Greece, NY.; and his friend Bob Anselm.

He is survived by: his son Historian-Thomas M. Tiefel (Connie) of North Bergen; his grandson Noah Foster of North Bergen; his niece Debbie LaMendola (Patrick) of Penfield, NY; his nephew Charles VanSlooten of North Chili, NY; and his friends, David DelVechio (Peggy) of Victor, NY and Frank Lucisano (Cathrine) of Rochester, NY.. He is also survived by cousins, family members.
