He was predeceased by: his wife Helen; his parents, Carl Freitag and Emma Freitag; his brother-in-law Olaf Gates; and his son-in-law Richard Zschoche.
He is survived by: his daughters, Melissa Zschoche and Martha Lansberry (Jeffery); his grandchildren, Mark Zschoche (Sara) and Juliana Chamless (Donnie); his sister-in-law Elizabeth Gates; his nephews, Carl and Duane Gates; and his niece Donna Gates.
