He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Thompson and Zelda Thompson (Haywood); his wife Arlene Thompson (Luplow); his sons, Wayne and Scott Thompson; and his siblings, Bob Thompson, Ruth Johnson and Martha Thompson.

He is survived by: his daughter-in-law Robin Thompson of Bergen; his sister-in-law Mary Thompson of Elba; his grandchildren, Steven Thompson and Mary Thompson; and his great grandchild Madison Tryon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
