He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Gerring and Edith Swan Gerring; and his sister Sandra Lindquist. He is survived by: his wife Meridith Robinson Gerring; his children, Michele Gerring, Nicole Gerring, Robert Gerring (Kristen) and Stephen Gerring (Jessica); his grandchildren, Thomas, Charlotte Gerring, Georgia, Frederick Gerring and Henry Jachim; his sister Shirley Pillar (Jim) of Russell, PA; and his nephews, Douglas and Craig Lindquist.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Chautauqua Hometown Heroes Veterans Memorial.
