He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schmelzer and Dorothy A. Schmelzer (Strittmather); and his brother Timothy Schmelzer. He is survived by: his wife Patricia; his sons, Blair Schmelzer (Meghan) of Rochester, NY and Lt. Colonel Bryan Schmelzer (Gopy); his stepdaughters, Alycia Tracy of Olean, NY, Amanda Burt (Ian) of Clayton, NY and Abby Grump (Josh) of Jupiter, FL; his grandchildren, Lena, Rohan, Ellery Schmelzer, Olivia, Owen Burt and Jackson Grump; and his uncles, Albert Strittmather (Peg) of Belmont, NY and Leo Strittmather (Donna) of Vermilion, OH.
There will be no prior visitation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
