He was predeceased by: his wife Marta Rivera. He is survived by: his children, Luis Rivera (Rebecca), Carlos Rivera (Migdalia), Ana Zyto (Adam), Betsie Rivera (Raymond) and Arleen Selvaggi (late Vinny). He is also survived by sisters, a brother, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His military career was a source of great pride and a foundation of his patriotism.
