It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert M. Shelmidine of Belleville, New York, who passed away on December 3, 2022, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Paul (E. P.) and Josephine McLear Shelmidine; his wife Phyllis Hedger (Eve); his sons-in-law, Richard Planty and Tom Eastham; and his siblings, Betty Shelmidine, Isabelle Averys, Helen Farman, Roberta Stillman, Jack and Paul Shelmidine.
He is survived by: his children, Dawn Planty, Phoenix Az, Bob Shelmidine (Cindy) of Pulaski, NY, Dennis Shelmidine (Delores) of Belleville, NY, Becky Buckingham (Jeff) of Lisbon, NY, Darcy Eastham of Cuba, NY and Rachel Pitkin (Duck) of Lorraine, NY; his grandchildren, Charlie, Jay Planty, Penny Cline, Tammy White, Betsy Wood, Michael and Mark Shelmidine; his children, Kimberly, Jon Goldsmith, RJ Shelmidine, Nathan, Brandon Taylor, Luke, Geoff, Jessica Buckingham, Alex, Allison Eastham, Ashley, Derek, Olivia Wood and Aleyah Pitkin; and his siblings, Stan Shelmidine (Ilene) of Lorraine, NY, Ida Holland (Stan) of Lorraine, NY and Madeline Segouin (Joe) of Lafargeville, NY.. He is also survived by 30 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Jefferson County or the Belleville Volunteer Fire Department/Rescue Squad.
