He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Bentley, and David Dow Bentley, Jr.; and his brother Niles Sutton Bentley (Anand). He is survived by: his close friend Ellie La Vecchia; his children, Gregory Vanderhoof Bentley, Jr., Colin Patrick Bentley and Whitney Taylor Bentley; his siblings, David Dow Bentley III, Sara Anne Bentley (Sally), Julia M. Bentley and Dr. Jeanne B. Lawrence; and his former wife Holly Bentley. He is also survived by three children, along with cousins, countless nieces, nephews and friends.
During the next 14 years, Gregory led the development of countless local infrastructure projects including one of his proudest contributions to the community, the Dutchess Rail Trail.
