He was predeceased by: his parent Francisco Rivas. He is survived by: his parent Luciana Gonzalez; his child Gerardo Rivas Jr.; his wife Christopher Rivas; his siblings, Carmen Beltran (Freddy), Maria Rivas (Israel Beltran), Gladys Valentin (Gilberto), Carmen L. Rivas (Domingo Morales), Angel Arrianga and Jose Rivas (Carmen); and his grandchildren, Zachariah Rivas and Zophia Rivas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
